These multidisciplinary teams, comprised of educators, mental health professionals, law enforcement, and administrators, work collaboratively to evaluate concerning behaviors and intervene before situations escalate. By focusing on prevention and early intervention, they provide support to individuals in crisis while addressing potential risks. This proactive approach fosters a culture of safety and trust, reduces disciplinary actions, and promotes well-being. Behavioral threat assessment teams are a vital component of comprehensive school safety strategies, protecting both students and staff.

Child Find is a law that all educators have heard of, but is viewed through a singular lens, as a Special Education function. Where District Office Special Education personnel are tasked with managing referrals from outside agencies and the schools, but the law requires so much more. The Kern High School District is taking Child Find to a new level where all students will benefit.

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is the state governing body for high school athletic. This presentation will review how the CIF supports all student-athletes who participate in high school sports in the areas of health and safety, equity and access to education-based athletics.  

In this session, participants will engage in meaningful discussions around vital collaboration with sites, district office departments, COEs, and state and federal agencies in order to make systemic impactful change as it pertains to at-promise youth. Victor Valley Union High School District will share our story of resiliency where intentionality is key to creating and sustaining transformational results in a growing district and community.

The Palm Springs Unified School District is utilizing an individualized intervention program to support students with substance use issues. Trained Prevention Specialists provide tailored services through a range of intervention options, from early prevention to intensive support. Partnerships with local agencies ensure seamless referrals to high-level services when needed.

A presentation will showcase program data, specific intervention options, and practical implementation strategies. This initiative aims to create a supportive environment, address diverse student needs, and promote healthier, more productive school communities.
