About me
Toni Banuelos brings over two decades of dedicated service to youth and families in the education and social services sectors. She currently serves as a Senior Program Specialist in the Child Welfare and Attendance Unit at the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), where she provides technical assistance, professional development, and policy guidance to school districts and community partners across the county.
With a Master of Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from California State University, Fullerton, Ms. Banuelos holds multiple credentials, including a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Pupil Personnel Services Credential in Child Welfare and Attendance, and a Teaching Credential.
Throughout her career, Ms. Banuelos has been a champion for vulnerable student populations, including foster youth, students experiencing homelessness, and those facing chronic absenteeism. Her professional background includes pivotal roles with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), where she served as both a Pupil Services and Attendance Counselor and Education Coordinator, as well as Executive Director of a nonprofit organization focused on academic enrichment and youth leadership.
A skilled collaborator and advocate, she has led efforts to align educational services with state mandates such as AB 854 and McKinney-Vento, while building strategic partnerships with agencies such as DCFS, Probation, and community-based organizations. Her expertise in legislative compliance, program development, and data-informed decision-making continues to drive positive educational outcomes for youth.
